Concert | Franz Schubert’s “Winterreise”

James Taylor, Professor in the Practice of Voice and Coordinator of the Program of Voice: Early Music, Oratorio, and Chamber Ensemble at the Institute of Sacred Music, will perform Schubert’s Winterreisse (Winter Journey) accompanied by David Breitman, Director of the Historical Performance Program at Oberlin Conservatory, on the fortepiano. This song cycle for voice and piano, which consists of a setting of twenty-four poems by German lyric poet Wilhelm Muller (1794–1827), has had an influence on the early work of George Shaw.
