Film Screening | Blue (1993)

Event time:
Saturday, June 22, 2019 - 2:00pm
To complement the exhibition Art in Focus: Blue, the Center will screen Derek Jarman’s groundbreaking film Blue (rated R; 79 minutes). Comprising a single shot of a saturated blue background, the film’s voiceover catalogs the effects of Jarman’s illness from AIDS while touching on themes of remembrance, death, love, and loss. Accompanied by a sumptuous score by Simon Fisher Turner and Brian Eno, the film engulfs the viewer in an expressive space, not unlike the color field paintings of the postwar period.
