Day With(out) Art 2025: Derek Jarman’s “Blue” (1993)

Free admission

In recognition of 2025 World AIDS Day and the Day With(out) Art, and in concert with Yale partners, we are pleased to present a screening of Derek Jarman’s Blue (1993).

In recognition of 2025 World AIDS Day and the Day With(out) Art, join us for a screening of Derek Jarman’s Blue (1993). Jarman’s final film, completed shortly before his death, meditates on the experience of AIDS with unflinching clarity, against a single field of blue. Today, Blue endures as a vital work of Queer cinema. Introduction by Lily Waterton, the Jock Reynolds Fellow in Public Programs, Yale University Art Gallery. Generously cosponsored by the Gallery’s Martin A. Ryerson Lectureship Fund, the Yale Center for British Art, and Public Humanities at Yale.

This 79-minute film is followed by a reception at 5:30 pm and a screening of Visual AIDS’ Meet Us Where We’re At (2025) at 6:00 pm.
