The Yale Center for British Art (YCBA) is delighted to host eight undergraduates for the 2026 summer internship season, which began on June 8 and continues through 31.
YCBA internships are dynamic, cohort-based learning experiences that allow undergraduate students to be immersed in the professional life of a museum while learning more about the broader field through complementary programming. Interns are mentored by staff across the YCBA departments, where they work on individualized projects. Each week, they attend cohort meetings with the Education department and joint enrichment programming with New Haven Promise interns at the Yale University Art Gallery; these meetings emphasize mentorship, personal growth, and cross-departmental learning. Their experience culminates in presentations to YCBA staff and fellow interns reflecting on their work.
Bartels Art Museum Summer Scholars
Funded through the generosity of Nancy Horton Bartels and her late husband, Henry E. Bartels, these internships are open to Yale undergraduates who have completed their first year.

Dorothy will contribute to planning the YCBA’s 50th anniversary by supporting event development, interpretive materials, and institutional partnerships.

Patrick McCaughey (Bartels) Summer Scholar Intern in Drawings and Prints
Mentors: Elizabeth Wyckoff and Laurel Peterson
Isabelle will support the preparation of two future exhibitions, on mezzotint engraving and Michel Jean Cazabon, through collaborative research and curatorial work.

New Haven Promise Intern in Archives
Mentors: Elizabeth Wilkinson, Meg Rinn
Solee will assist with arranging and describing architectural drawings, gaining broad insight into archival practices at the museum.
Gabriel Estrada Pérez
Connecticut College, Art, 2027
New Haven Promise Intern in Design/Editorial
Mentors: Derek Schusterbauer, Katharine Baker
Gabriel will assist with editing and translating object labels in English and Spanish while researching best practices for multilingual museum interpretation.
Charlee Ferguson
University of Bridgeport, Health Sciences, 2028
New Haven Promise Intern in the Reference Library
Mentor: Kraig Binkowski
Charlee will conduct art object research using library collections to identify and compile bibliographic citations across a range of sources.

Aslan will gain exposure to curatorial practice and team operations while contributing to the final phase of John Constable: The Landscape Reimagined.

Abigail will participate in all aspects of digitization, including preparing, imaging, processing, and publishing archival and rare materials online.

New Haven Promise Intern in Collections Access Information
Mentors: Emmanuelle Delmas-Glass, Carly Wickell
Johanna will contribute to initiatives on web accessibility and usability of the collection website, including writing alternative image descriptions aligned with Yale accessibility standards.
