Artist Statement
I usually don’t follow any specific themes or topics. My work often focuses on nature, cityscapes, people, objects, light, shadows, etc. For this exhibition I chose to have a theme of nostalgic emotions from my childhood. Out of all art mediums, I felt like being a photographer suited me more because I am big on documenting my life and I felt that using photography would be the best way to show those emotions through my images. One thing I love doing is looking into photo albums from when I was younger and being grateful that my parents would take pictures during my childhood.
In making my photos I make sure the scenery looks and matches the feeling I’m trying to show. I try to make sure that the viewer can understand and also feel the emotion that my images illustrate. For all of my work I either use my phone or a digital camera, although I prefer the digital camera because its quality makes my images feel older and attaches a nostalgic feeling. As an artist I like to look at my images as my own album in which each photo illustrates a feeling from my childhood. My main goal as an artist is to have my images remind viewers of their childhood as well.
