Installing the Library Court

February 28, 2024

Installation of the Library Court on the second floor of the museum is underway!

Some of the largest paintings from the museum’s collection are displayed in this space. Here we see A Lion Attacking a Horse (1762) and A Lion Attacking a Stag (between 1765 and 1766)—both by George Stubbs and on display in the upper register of the Library Court. The lower register features another work by Stubbs: Zebra (1763).

Elsewhere in the Yale Center for British Art, paintings are often hung on walls covered with a neutral Belgian linen, but in the Library Court, you will find artworks installed on the white oak paneled walls.
