The Study Room provides access to art works in the YCBA’s Archives, Prints and Drawings, and Rare Books and Manuscripts collections. You can request access to art works and other collection items that you discover using the YCBA Online Catalog, Yale Library’s Quicksearch, Archives at Yale, or Lux: Yale Collections Discovery. Class and Group Visits
The Study Room is open to all for teaching and other group visits that foster conversations while engaging with materials in the YCBA collection. To request a class session or group visit to the Study Room, please fill out the YCBA Group Visit Registration Form to get started and a member of our staff will be in touch. We welcome classes from any school district, college, or university, as well as youth groups and community organizations of all backgrounds.
For instructors and group visit organizers who are familiar with leading sessions in the Study Room, we would be happy to facilitate your vision for your Study Room session. If you are new to Study Room group visits, staff are available to help you learn more, including how to structure visits to meet your learning/conversation goals, assist with leading visits, assist in selecting collection materials, or collaborating in designing individual follow-up assignments for students. We look forward to working with you!
Limited class and group visit appointments are available. Please request your visit as early as possible to book your preferred date and at least two weeks in advance to give staff time to prepare for your visit.
Individual Appointments
The Study Room is also available by appointment to all individuals. While some individuals may be working on specific projects during their visits, it is not necessary. We welcome everyone to discover items in our online catalogs and experience viewing collection materials in person!
You may request up to ten items at a time for an individual appointment. Space is limited, and we request that you provide approximately one-week advance notice for your appointment so staff can prepare for your appointment. To make an appointment, please email ycba.studyroom@yale.edu.
