Apply to be a Student Guide

The Student Guide Program at the Yale Center for British Art offers Yale undergraduates the opportunity to work closely with the most comprehensive collection of British art outside the United Kingdom. Guides offer tours of the museum and its collections to the Yale community and the general public. This program seeks to encourage undergraduates to take advantage of this valuable resource on Yale’s campus.

Students of all majors are welcome. No prior knowledge of art history is required. 

Student guides will be compensated for time served in Friday classes and other museum programs. 

Requirements
  • Interest in art, museums, and/or art history
  • Ability to attend mandatory Friday meetings during the academic year, 12:30–2:30 pm
  • Commitment to lead tours during the academic year and to participate in special museum events and programs
Important Dates and How to Apply
  • Friday, September 5, 2025, 1 pm:  Information session in the Docent Room
  • Monday, September 8, 2025, 5 pm: Applications due
    • Please fill out and submit the webform below
    • Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted by email
  • Friday, September 12 – Sunday, September 14, 2025: Interviews will take place in the Docent Room and the galleries
  • Friday, September 19, 2025: First class
