Artist Statement

I am an eighteen-year-old artist from New Haven, Connecticut. Outside of photography and school, I like to paint, play the piano and guitar, and read. I especially like to read poetry. Something that I love is being able to connect all of my hobbies. So sometimes when I take certain photographs, they remind me of some poems that I love. Some of the titles of my photographs are poems or quotes that I feel drawn to.

A lot of my photos reveal my love for nature and give people a little insight into the kind of person I am without me having to tell them directly. I especially like to take pictures of trees. I’ve always loved the tree of life and the meanings behind it.

I would describe myself as artistic, observant, passionate, and reserved. I’m a very quiet and private person, so being able to express myself through my photographs means a lot to me. And I love taking pictures because it allows me to save and relive so many memories.

When people see my photographs, I want them to see and appreciate the beauty of the moment in the photograph. I want them to be able to connect to them and also see the world the way that I see it. I think your outlook and your perception of the world are definitely a direct reflection of the kind of person you are.
