Taisha Carrington, a Barbadian multidisciplinary artist, offers a different perspective on the imagined island depicted in The Island of Barbados

Join us in the galleries for this 30-minute lunchtime talk on a single artwork that highlights the global histories in our collection. Taisha Carrington is a Barbadian multidisciplinary artist and current MFA student at the Yale School of Art working in sculpture, performance, painting, and video. By examining the painting’s visual strategies alongside her own material investigations, she considers how historical and contemporary representations construct and contest the idea of the Caribbean island.
