Adam Wallenta is a professional writer and illustrator. He and his son Makana created Punk Taco, an award-winning series of graphic novels. Adam also illustrated The Adventures of Geo, a series that has received support from the National Science Foundation to encourage reading and science in schools. In this workshop, Adam will discuss the art and process of creating original characters for comic books and graphic novels. Visitors of all ages will create their own characters, draw, and have fun.

Thabisa is a bicontinental musician from South Africa now residing in New Haven. She is a community-oriented artist who enriches audiences with cultural experiences and music. Thabisa will perform her original music in Xhosa and in English. The program will include African drumming and call-and-response music as well as some tunes from the great Mama Miriam Makeba's songbook.
