Now online: Issue 26 of “British Art Studies”

June 2, 2025
Issue 26 of British Art Studies is now online! This issue brings together new research on Camerawork and the problem of reproducing periodicals; Ben Nicholson’s large paintings for public interiors; Black sitters in early modern portraits; Gavin Stamp and activist-scholarship; and Frank Bowling’s Middle Passage paintings.
This issue also includes an editorial introducing the journal’s redesigned platform, which reflects ongoing questions around accessibility, sustainability, and the dynamics of publishing art history online.
British Art Studies is an innovative space for new peer-reviewed scholarship on all aspects of British art, co-published by Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art and the Yale Center for British Art.
