With Turner, the Yale Center for British Art launches the first installment of the YCBA Collection Series, which showcases the artists, themes, and genres most richly represented in the museum’s holdings. Designed to spark curiosity and interest, each abundantly illustrated volume tells the story of its subject through artworks in the YCBA’s collection alongside lively discussions by prominent scholars.
The publication of Turner coincides with the artist’s 250th birthday and with the YCBA’s exhibition J. M. W Turner: Romance and Reality, which opens to the public on March 29. Turner will be followed by volumes that highlight the museum’s exceptional collections of the work of William Blake and John Constable.
