Artist Statement

I’m naturally an introvert, and lean toward being an observer. That's really the emphasis of my photography: a close look at moments and places that otherwise go unrecognized. In particular, my neighborhood has niche aspects that aren’t appealing at first glance, but if you take the time to lean in, then you'll find yourself staring at their flawed beauties. Moreover, I’m fond of people’s quiet moments, which range from eerie to warming.

Through the trajectory of my life, being introverted has felt like a weakness. People have harshly criticized my natural tendency to quietness, much of which doesn't make sense to me. In my eyes, there's nothing more beautiful than the silence and stillness of life amidst a world that knows no stop. Although I do not expect everyone to understand, I at least hope they are open to viewing the world the way I see it.
