Hannibal de Pencier, PhD candidate in the department of the history of art, Yale University, offers a closer look at William Daniell’s The Indian Rhinoceros

Join us in the galleries for this “Beyond Britain” talk on an artwork that highlights the global histories in the YCBA. Hannibal de Pencier is a PhD candidate in Yale's department of the history of art. He will explore how William Daniell's The Indian Rhinoceros conveys both the excitement of a chance encounter and the authority of close observation, presenting its unfamiliar subject as at once distant and convincingly known.
