About this tour

Bob Potter, a docent at the Center, will lead an online tour focusing on Sir Joshua Reynolds and Thomas Gainsborough. Considered the leading British portrait artists of the late eighteenth century, examples of Reynolds’s and Gainsborough’s work from the Center’s collection and other major museums will be presented. Potter will explore the lives of these artists along with the stories of the people they painted from the English countryside to the royal family of King George III and the leading figures of London's high society.
