Short Subjects: Rare Books—The Tower of London

Begun by William I shortly after 1066, the Tower has been a palace, prison, and place of execution; it has housed the royal observatory, the mint, and the royal menagerie and still guards the Crown Jewels.

Drawn from the Center’s collections, Short Subjects: Rare Books was a continuing series of small thematic exhibitions on view from 1979 to 1996.
