Awardees will receive a dedicated working space in the museum's Reference Library and are encouraged to participate in events and programs at the museum, and to engage with the scholarly community of the university. They are also able to take advantage of the extensive collections at other Yale museums and libraries.
Eligibility
These awards are open to academics, independent scholars, and doctoral students working in any field related to British visual and material culture. Predoctoral applicants from North America must be ABD to qualify.
One award per annum is reserved for a member of the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies. Scholars may apply to the Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington, for awards in the same year; every effort will be made to offer consecutive dates.
Residency Period
Residency dates for successful applicants in the 2025 cycle may be held between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025. Awards may be held from one to two consecutive months.
Travel and Accommodation
Awards cover the cost of a J1 visa, travel to and from New Haven, and include accommodations as well as a living allowance. Assistance with immigration processes will be provided where possible. Awardees are required to be in residence in New Haven for the duration of their award and must be free of all other significant professional responsibilities during their stay.
