Artist Statement

My artistic journey is deeply intertwined with my cultural heritage as a first-generation American of Caribbean descent and with my quest to find a connection in every image I create. Photography has emerged as my chosen medium. In each image I capture, I strive to infuse a sense of my personal experiences and my cultural background. From the everyday moments between school and home, I seek to evoke emotions that resonate with viewers on a deeper level. These images serve as a visual diary of my journey, capturing the essence of my cultural identity and the intersections of tradition and modernity.

My work is a testament to what can be made out of life's challenges and transitions. Through the lens of my camera, I aim to showcase the warmth that can be found even in the coldest of circumstances, offering a glimpse into resilience. At the heart of my art lies a desire to challenge perceptions and evoke emotion, to find beauty in the ordinary and warmth in the cold.

In capturing the essence of vast spaces, I aim to convey the charm and uniqueness of the emotions they summon. Each piece I create is an expression of myself, influenced by the path I am forging for myself in the future. Ultimately, my goal is to create work that not only reflects my journey but also speaks to the shared human experience, inviting viewers to see the world through a lens of warmth and beauty.
